a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils...
School starting tomorrow reminds me of a line in the movie You've Got Mail. Tom Hanks is writing one of his emails to Meg Ryan and says something about it being fall, and how it reminds him of going back to school. He says if he knew where she lived, he'd send her a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils. How cute is that??
Well, I could really go for a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils right about now. :-) Tomorrow begins my year-long journey working with middle school students. Right now though, it's nearly 11 and I can't sleep. I think I've got those 'first day of school jitters'. What am I saying? I can never sleep the night before I start a new school year. I wonder why that is! Am I excited? Am I nervous? Am I anxious? Am I scared? Perhaps a little of each of the above.
Well, my new school does things a bit differently--we had Back to School Night last night. Students had an opportunity to "preview" their classes and parents and students both could meet the teachers. I've already met almost half of my students, and I have to admit that I was pretty excited when I found that they were almost all shorter than me! haha. Quite a difference from the high school. I definitely miss it over there...my coworkers, my former students...but maybe someday God will move me over there again. For now, I will make the most of where I am today. Middle school, here I come. :-)
Okay...bed...gotta try to sleep! Say a prayer for me, if you would!
