As I write this, I'm sitting in a Kinko's in Alameda. I went to the A's-Yankees game last night, a game in which the A's trompled all over the icky team from NY. Woo-hoo! That's what I like to see. :-) To make the situation even better, the Red Sox WON their game against Texas yesterday. So the Sox are 2-1 and the Yankees are 1-2. Very nice. I'm just about to leave though, to stop in at Ikea for the second time this week...I need a dining room table and I found a super-cute one there on Saturday--but I was "just looking" on Saturday. My self-control was amazing...you'd be proud.
Anyway...so, moving on to the real reason I'm writing this post...
I told you guys that my life would be full of changes this spring!!
First the move to Selma...
...Now a new job!
Well, not really a new job...I've been offered and accepted a teaching position back at the high school. I'm really very excited!! I enjoyed my time here at the K-8, but my heart is with high school students. I'm going to miss my seventh graders for sure, but my favorite part about this transition is being able to move up with my eighth graders. I will have many of them in my Geometry classes next year and in two years I'll see my seventh graders again. Yay!
I told my kids on Tuesday and they took it pretty well. The eighth graders are really excited and the seventh graders--how can I explain their reaction? I think it was "stunned"? They were silent...they just sat there. I'm not sure if it was from disbelief or silent happiness, but either way, I wasn't expecting that reaction. Yesterday a couple of the kids were sad...they gave me hugs and told me they didn't want me to leave... :-(
I have to be back to work in time for open house. I'm looking forward to seeing parents one last time and hanging out with the kids who come by. Should be fun. :-)
