I have missed you...
I worked 14 hours today.
Yes. 14. I drove in to work at about 6:30 this morning and didn't leave until 8:30 tonight. This is not typical for my workdays...well, it hasn't been in the recent past anyway. And I really hope this isn't the beginning of a new trend. It was the first day back from Easter Vacation, and I just had a lot to take care of!! But on the plus side, I did get up at 445 this morning and go to the gym. Maybe that's why I'm awake still. I hear that when you go to the gym first thing in the morning you are more energized for the rest of the day. True? Who knows. I'm usually exhausted at the end of the day whether or not I've gone to the gym...haha. Who knew teaching would take so much out of you? So lets see...it's 10:15 now...so that means I've been up for...............(hang on, doing the math)..................just about 18 hours. Yippee! Time for bed. But first...a little update:
Last you heard I was breaking up with the old car...it's true. I've overcome my loss somehow (probably has something to do with the 10,000 miles I've already put on the new car) and am every day feeling more and more comfortable in my new car relationship. I really am totally blessed with the new car. It gets great gas mileage and is finally something reliable. I don't have to wake up in the morning and pray that my car starts!
What else...? Well, on January 17th my parents and sister came out to my apt for dinner. It was that night that my dad told me that they found "a lump" in his lymph nodes. He had surgery and they removed it all...analyzed it and determined it is Skin Cancer. After a few more routine scans and tests, they found another lump about the size of a golf ball in his abdomen. So since about mid-February, my dad has been out of work and undergoing chemotherapy to try to shrink the second lump so the doctors can remove it. He's losing a lot of weight, and the effects of the treatment are hitting him pretty hard. But he has a lot of people praying for him, and he is holding on strong. Mom is out of work too and is serving as his primary caregiver...she takes him to his treatments, sits with him through appointments, and can't leave him alone at home. This is wearing her out as well...so when you're praying for my dad, please remember to include my mom.
It's getting late, so I'll just finish up real quick by letting you know that Mark and I are still dating. It's been seven months! At Christmastime he took leave and he invited me to go home to Oregon with him for a week. I met and stayed with his sister one night and his parents the rest of the time. What a great family! He has also been accepted and welcomed with open arms by my family, and they all seem to like him very much. He and I learn more and more about each other every time we get together...and I'm learning so much about myself and what it takes to be a part of a couple! It's hard, and I make all kinds of mistakes...but thankfully I have a boyfriend who is understanding and patient!!! We still haven't had a single fight or argument. Well, except for silly little arguments about what movie to see or where to eat dinner...but one of us usually gives in pretty quickly so I don't think you could even consider those to be arguments. :-) Please keep us in your prayers.
Lots more to share, so I will update again soon...hopefully it won't take four months!! :-)
