Favorite Day of the Week

Someone asked me recently what my favorite day of the week is and I immediately told them Monday. It may sound corny, but I really do like Mondays. Generally, people say Friday or Saturday when you ask them that same question. But not me. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the thought of "taking on" another week and facing whatever challenges lay ahead...or maybe it's just the fact that I'm starting over again with a clean slate Monday morning.

Anyway, after yesterday I've pretty much decided that Monday is no longer my favorite day of the week. I've moved on to Tuesdays now, and so far, I have to say it's going pretty well. I mean, I made it all the way to my classroom without even spilling a drop of my hot chocolate!

Give me about 6 days and I'll try out Mondays again. :-)

Happy Monday

As I was driving to work this morning, I was thinking "Today is going to be a great day. The Patriots won, the weather isn't too terrible, and I have my grande peppermint hot chocolate (thanks to a quick stop in at Starbucks)." But it wasn't more than 10 minutes later that things took a turn for the worst. I met one of the other math teachers in the parking lot and as we were walking into the front office, he asked me how my test went this past Saturday. I told him I was pretty optimistic about the Geometry section, but felt quite the opposite when it came to the Linear Algebra section (I talked with a girl who was in the Geometry Prep class with me and she said the test was really difficult for her too...that made me feel better...but not TOO much better!). We laughed and decided it is a good thing I'm not teaching Algebra II! We then rounded the corner of the counter in the front office, on our way to check our mailboxes, when out of nowhere my foot slipped and I did a beautiful swan dive right into the floor, spilling the contents of my shoulder bag and my grande peppermint hot chocolate everywhere. It wouldn't have been so terrible, but it was right in front of the principal's office, so he saw the whole thing and came rushing over to see if I was okay. Ugh. I laughed it off, offered to help clean up, and then said, "Well, I guess my day can't get any worse. It's all uphill from here."

Happy Monday to me.

By the way...yay Pats!
