Happy Monday

As I was driving to work this morning, I was thinking "Today is going to be a great day. The Patriots won, the weather isn't too terrible, and I have my grande peppermint hot chocolate (thanks to a quick stop in at Starbucks)." But it wasn't more than 10 minutes later that things took a turn for the worst. I met one of the other math teachers in the parking lot and as we were walking into the front office, he asked me how my test went this past Saturday. I told him I was pretty optimistic about the Geometry section, but felt quite the opposite when it came to the Linear Algebra section (I talked with a girl who was in the Geometry Prep class with me and she said the test was really difficult for her too...that made me feel better...but not TOO much better!). We laughed and decided it is a good thing I'm not teaching Algebra II! We then rounded the corner of the counter in the front office, on our way to check our mailboxes, when out of nowhere my foot slipped and I did a beautiful swan dive right into the floor, spilling the contents of my shoulder bag and my grande peppermint hot chocolate everywhere. It wouldn't have been so terrible, but it was right in front of the principal's office, so he saw the whole thing and came rushing over to see if I was okay. Ugh. I laughed it off, offered to help clean up, and then said, "Well, I guess my day can't get any worse. It's all uphill from here."

Happy Monday to me.

By the way...yay Pats!

Isn't falling in front of people the best?! The other day I was chasing after someone waving my arms (we were being silly) and I somehow missed this HUGE planter base that was on the side walk. Due to not seeing this humongo thing I was flung into the air, and then due to the laws of gravity I quickly met the ceramic tiles that they have as sidewalk in Nerja Spain. I was wearing flip flops and a hunk of skin was taken out of my big toe.
After everyone could tell that I was okay they started laughing hysterically. I do have to admit, it was dang funny but it also hurt :(. Pobrecita (my attempt at spelling a Spanish word).

haha...Carrie. Your poor toe! I have no permanent injuries, except maybe my ego. My knees are a little bruised up, but that's about it.
I totally felt like a NERD after I did my swan dive into the floor. It wouldn't have been so bad, but the janitor took FOREVER (okay, like 10 minutes) to get there to clean it up. So in the meantime I had to let people know to watch their step and then when they saw the spill, explain to them that I haven't yet mastered the skill of walking.
