Chicago

Sis and I spent last weekend in Chicago.

Thursday night we flew out on the red-eye and arrived at O'Hare around 5am Friday morning. That was definitely the best way we could have timed it...after we rented our car and checked-in to the hotel, we slept for a few hours and then had ALL DAY Friday to play!

Back in August I bought tickets to a sold-out baseball game at Wrigley Field (thanks Abe, for the super-secret website!!). Cubs and the Cardinals...apparently a huge rivalry. Cubs won (nearly a miracle) and around 5:30pm we were on our way back to the hotel. Decided, at about 10pm, to go explore a bit. hehe. We grabbed a map and headed into the city. Millennium Park was our destination, and we found it pretty easily...very scenic at night!

Saturday morning we were up early... We were out the door by 10 and on our way into the city again. This time we were meeting up with my friend Abe at Millennium Park. Good times! We walked around the park a bit, then over to see Buckingham Fountain, and then Abe offered to give us a quick tour of the city by car. So we jumped in and seconds later realized we were in for quite a ride. Chicagoans drive insane. You know the movie "The Pacifier"? In it, there's a scene where the kids are in the car and on their way to school...after some erratic driving, the car is spun around and sits perfectly against the curb...one of the girls jumps out, falls to the ground and yells "Laaaaaaaand!"...Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt. haha. Really though, Abe is a super-driver...I guess you just need to be a bit more aggressive in that city than you do back here in Fresno.

The wedding that afternoon was in the chapel at Northwestern University. My cousin looked so beautiful in her dress, and it was nice to finally meet her husband. The reception was beautiful... They brought in a huge tent for their back yard, with white lights strung along the top, and three candles in the center of each of the tables. That was the only illumination...it was almost like a fairy tale!

We spent Sunday morning at Navy Pier. The Pier has a ton of fun attractions and if you're ever in Chicago, you definitely have to stop in for a little while. You'll need to take a Seadog Tour, which is a speedboat that holds about 40 people and tours the lake front just north and south of the Pier. Also, save a few minutes for the short ride on the Ferris Wheel. The view of the city at the top is just amazing...

I'm hoping to head back out there someday soon...there was so much we weren't able to see!! Can't wait. :-)

O'Harre is a yucky airport but Chicago is a fun city. I was there for a baseball game this summer too. Different park but I bet Ryan would have much rather gone to the game you went to. He's a huge Cardinals fan and most people around here are Cubs fans so its fun when they do play. Cubs may have won that night but the Cardinals will keep playing after regular season. Go Ryan's team! (I'm still chearing for the Angels since Jake plays for them)

Yeah, the Cardinals are on a hot streak right now. Doing REALLY well, with the exception of that loss to the Cubs. ;-) It was so funny...I wore my Boston gear (because the Cardinals lost to the BoSox in the Series last year and I had to rub it in...hehe) and there were a ton of Boston fans sitting behind my sister and I. Fun! Plus, though most of the fans were there for the Cubs, there were quite a few in our section cheering for those Cards.

Glad you're cheering for the Angels! They're not such a bad team...
