quick update
A few have asked...school is going great so far. :-)
I have about 180 students spread out amongst five classes, and I have to admit that they are some pretty good kids. They're well behaved, most of them actually do their homework, and they even laugh at my stupid jokes. hehe.
We're currently doing a ton of fundraising for the Italy trip coming up in March. I am taking 10 students this year, and I wanted to give them an opportunity to raise most of the $2400 that they have to pay in order to participate. Sounds like a lot of money, but you have to remember that the trip is for 17 days. So anyway, my schedule has been booked with selling partylite candles, tupperware, red carpet car wash tickets, and advertising for our Fun-Raiser night at Sweet Tomatoes. (Which is September 10th, if anyone is going to be in town and wants to help us out! All you have to do is eat there! Call me... :-) ) Anyway, the kids who are really making an effort have raised a lot of money...myself, I don't usually have to pay for the trip. In the past we have distributed my cost amongst the students. Well, knowing that an extra $250 could be a hardship on some of the kids, I decided to do fundraising too. That way, the more I raise, the less they have to pay. So far I have an account balance close to $800. That'll almost cover my plane ticket. Pretty darn good if you ask me. :-)
Not much else keeping me busy these days...I'm glad to report that for my three-day weekend, I have spent most of the time relaxing and catching up on much-needed sleep.
Oh by the way. Dad finished his chemo last Friday. Yay! Now he has to go in only for an injection once a day for four weeks, and then three days a week for 10 months... But the hard part is over and he has been healed of his cancer. Thank God!
Will update with more soon...
